Minutes of the 2010 Convention of the NEIcAAA at College of the Holy Cross, September 8, 2010

The convention was called to order at 10:05 A.M. by Irwin Cohen. Schools represented were: Amherst, Boston College, Brandeis, Bridgewater State, Central Connecticut, Connecticut College, Dartmouth, E. Connecticut, Holy Cross, Keene State, UMass/Amherst, UMass/Dartmouth, UMass/Lowell, Middlebury, MIT, Mount Holyoke, Northeastern, Regis, Rhode Island University, Smith, Southern Connecticut State, Southern Maine, Springfield, Stonehill, Trinity, Tufts, U.S.Coast Guard Academy, Vermont, Wellesley, Wesleyan, Westfield State, Wheaton. Two others schools were present, but not voting.

The previously circulated minutes of the 2009 convention, was adopted. Lesley University was officially accepted to the Association.

Financial report was presented and questions from the floor were accepted.

Steve Vaitones, Chairman of USA Track and Field, New England attended and made a presentation about cross country at Franklin Park

The proposal to include the 4 x 200M relay in the men’s and women’s indoor championship was defeated on a roll call vote -no:15 Amherst, Boston College, Brandeis, Central Connecticut, Holy Cross, UMass/Dartmouth, UMass/Amherst, MIT, Rhode Island, Southern Connecticut, S. Maine, Stonehill, Vermont , Trinity, Westfield,
15-yes: Bridgewater State, Connecticut College, E. Connecticut State, UMass/Lowell, Middlebury, Mount Holyoke, Regis, Smith, Springfield, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Trinity, Tufts, Wellesley, Wesleyan, Wheaton, 1 abstention: Dartmouth

Motion to include first day of women’s heptathlon on Thursday in conjunction with men’s decathlon: no, Bridgewater. Connecticut College, Hartford, Keene State, UMass/Lowell, Regis, Smith, Springfield, Trinity, Wellesley, Wheaton, (10); yes, Amherst, Boston College, Brandeis, Holy Cross, MIT, UMass/Amherst, Quinnipiac, Rhode Island, S. Connecticut State, Stonehill, Tufts, Vermont, (11). Motion defeated

Dates and sites of Championships

2010 Cross Country Championship at Franklin Park, October 9
2011 Indoor Championship at Boston University, February 25-26
2011 Outdoor Championship Southern Connecticut State May 12-14

Discussion ensued with regard to expenses for the championships chaired by Kris Morwick and John Copeland. The costs for cross country at Franklin Park and at BU for indoors were determined to be acceptable, but a committee will be set up by the coaches’ to determine an acceptable stipend for schools wishing to host the outdoor championship.

Stonehill bid for the 2012 outdoor championship and will submit an expense budget
